  • Cancun is the seat of the municipality of Benito Juárez, in the state of Quintana Roo. Its tourism development is world class and certified by the World Tourism Organization.
  • Located on the northern coast of Quintana Roo in eastern Mexico, more than 1,700 km from Mexico City, the project began operations in 1974 as a comprehensively planned center, a pioneer of FONATUR (National Fund for Tourism Promotion, previously known as INFRATUR).
  • Its transformation in just a few years was remarkable, from a fishing island surrounded by virgin jungle and undiscovered beaches, to one of the world's most well-known Mexican tourist destinations.
