  • Durango, officially called Victoria de Durango, is the capital city of the state of the same name. Located in northern Mexico in the Valle del Guadiana at the center of the state, it is known by the locals as La Perla del Guadiana (the Pearl of the Guadiana).
  • Durango is the most populated and extensive in the state.
  • The historic center contains the highest number of historic buildings catalogued by INAH in the north of the country, and forms part of the group of cities and towns on the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro historic trail, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2010.
  • The city is famous for its Durango National Fair, the second biggest in Mexico after the San Marcos National Fair, in Aguascalientes.
