Hague
  • The Hague is the third largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It has an urban population of 504,260 inhabitants which together with its suburbs total 1,011,459 inhabitants, distributed over an area of approximately 100 square kilometers.
  • The city is located in the west of the country, in the province of South Holland, of which it is the capital. Along with other Dutch cities, The Hague is part of the Randstad conurbation, the largest in Holland and one of the biggest in Europe.
  • The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government but not the capital of the Netherlands. According to the Dutch constitution, that distinction belongs to Amsterdam. As the administrative center of the country, The Hague is home to the Dutch parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Council of State.
  • King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands resides and works in the city. The Hague is also the site of all foreign embassies and government ministries of the country, as well as a large number of international organizations including the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and Europol.
