Vancouver is a city on the Pacific coast of Canada, located in the southeast of the province of British Columbia, between the Strait of Georgia and the North Shore Mountains.
It is part of the metropolitan area of the regional district of Greater Vancouver, and has a population of 2,313,328 inhabitants (2011). It is the biggest metropolitan area of Western Canada and the third biggest in the country behind Toronto and Montreal.
Vancouver itself has 603,502 inhabitants.
In 2002, Vancouver was considered one of the top three cities in the world for quality of life.
In 2006, it ranked 56th among the most expensive cities in the world, only Toronto surpassing it in Canada.
