Nowadays, Mexico is the country that attracts the biggest amount of investments on the manufacturing field, surpassing some of the main industry leaders. Regarding investments destined to boosting development and research capacities, Mexico holds the sixth place worldwide.

In Mexico there are over 190 companies linked to the aerospace industry, employing nearly 30,000 workers, and seeking to capitalize on opportunities in this country. The great majority are foreign companies that have moved to Mexico in the last few years, inspired by the success of the automobile and electronics industries.

Thanks to the fact that every year there are some 90,000 graduates in engineering and technology, the Mexican aerospace industry offers qualified human capital. The country boasts over 750,000 engineering and technology students, as well as 900 post-graduate programs in related subjects.

Mexico also has the most competitive operating costs for the aerospace industry of any country. According to KPMG’s ‘Competitive Alternatives 2008’ study, the country allows savings of over 30 percent of operating costs compared to current industry leaders.

The aerospace market has grown dramatically. During the past five years it has shown a two digit growth, which amounted to 3.13 billion dollars in 2008. Furthermore, Mexico is the ninth supplier for the United States industry and the sixth for the European Union.

Aernnova
The Spanish company Aernnova decided to invest in Mexico because of the great advantages that NAFTA offers to our industry. "Of the three countries that signed NAFTA, Mexico is the most interesting choice for the aeronautics manufacturing industry. Our company decided to invest in manufacturing facilities in the city of Queretaro, in Mexico – before going to other parts of the world - mainly because of the advertisement and the support offered by the Mexican government, specifically ProMexico.”

Ricardo Iñurria Farías, CEO, Aernnova Mexico

Honeywell
“Mexico’s efforts toward R&D activities through incentive programs developed by CONACYT and the Ministry of Economic Development, and the high educational levels on graduated schools are key factors to attract investment in Mexico. The potential of Baja California, Mexico, in the aerospace industry is great and it shows the tremendous growth that the aerospace industry has experienced in the last ten years. Baja California’s proximity to the United States and its strong skilled labor force make it an ideal place for the aerospace industry to continue growing”.

Alfredo Cárdenas, R&D Director, Honeywell Mexicali

ITR
The Spanish turbine designer ITR is part of a world network of aerospace leaders “ProMéxico has provided us their support by linking us to the Federal Government’s bodies and departments, to research centers and to companies in our industry that can help ITR’s industrial and technological development. On the other hand, their support in communicating our achievements and our growth plans has been crucial; it has allowed us to strengthen our presence in the international market”.

Emilio Otero Marban. Advisor and CEO, ITR Mexico

Triumph
“Triumph Group, the leader manufacturer of aerospace components and systems, arrived to Zacatecas, Mexico in 2009. Triumph is convinced that the strength of the industry, the quality of human resources, the support and vision of the State of Zacatecas will ensure our success for the long term”.

Ron Scruggs, Triumph Group Inc.
